An American in Paris

Honestly I find this movie a bit overrated.
The highlights-Oscar Levant's wit
AEROPLANE! (that whole song is cute)
the songs, the river
the part of the ballet with Gene Kelly in that really tight outfit accentuated that wonderful body.
I love the way all the actors interact.
I like the piano scenes
Leslie Caron is wonderful in this and Gene Kelly helped introduce this gem to star in other films (with Maurice Chevalier 2x, and with Fred Astaire)

The choreography in the ballet is brilliant but I sometimes love to watch it other times not. I do not really understand it as much as Kelly's other routines. There is obviously reason for the chaos. You can see the chaos is organized...and sometimes I think it makes an overall statement about life.
There is not too terribly much to say because I just never liked the movie too much. The dancing is spectacular but the romances have less chemistry than usual with Gene's leading ladies. My jaw dropped the first time I saw aeroplane!
